Applied Design Thinking Workshop 2026

Dot Sphere, under its Design Horizon initiative, successfully conducted the Applied Design Thinking & Innovation Workshop 26 at SAHE University, Vijayawada — engaging over 600 engineering students in a large-scale, immersive learning experience.

The workshop was designed to move beyond theory and into application — enabling students to approach real-world challenges through structured design thinking frameworks. Participants explored problem identification, empathy mapping, idea generation, and solution validation, building a strong foundation in user-centric innovation.

A total of 36 teams actively participated, working through hands-on activities, collaborative exercises, and guided mentorship. The focus remained on clarity of thought, depth of problem understanding, and the ability to translate ideas into meaningful solutions.

Among several high-performing teams, Group 10A — “The Dev Team”demonstrated exceptional clarity in both problem articulation and solution design. Their concept, SkillForge, addressed a critical gap where students often struggle to identify and communicate the skills they develop through academic work.

SkillForge proposes a structured platform that enables students to transform their projects into measurable, industry-relevant competencies. Through guided tracking, reflective learning, and AI-assisted support, the solution focuses on building confidence, clarity, and career readiness — shifting the focus from simply completing projects to effectively showcasing skills.

The workshop aimed to position design thinking not just as a mindset, but as an actionable skillset for engineers — encouraging curiosity, structured problem-solving, and innovation at scale.
